Destiny Baird

  • LEND Nutrition Trainee

Destiny Baird is a third-year graduate student in the Dietitian Nutritionist program at the University of Pittsburgh. She received her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science with an emphasis in Learning and Memory from the University of Arizona in 2015. Her interest in the neurosciences began during a college rep visit in high school. While she enjoyed her time learning during her undergraduate degree, she decided to switch career paths and found herself as a post baccalaureate student in a Graduate Nutrition program. Her career goals include being able to work with both her master’s and bachelor’s degrees as well as continue to work in pediatrics.

Destiny grew up in Arizona, where she worked with children both as a dance teacher and volunteered at an afterschool program for students in grades K-8. After graduating with her bachelor’s degree, she moved to Maine and worked on the pediatric wing of a mental and behavioral health hospital for over two years. She has also worked at a summer program for students where she provided nutrition education in the form of hands-on snack making, introducing the students to new foods, and taught lessons that coincided with each snack. With all of this, she has found a passion for working with children and intends to continue to do so in her professional career. This all led up to her interest in LEND, and she is very excited to be learning alongside other students in how best we can be supporting children with disabilities and their families.
