Caitlin Freeman is an Alexander Technique instructor and corrective exercise specialist. The Alexander Technique is a system of mindful movement that relieves pain, improves performance, and teaches healthy habits for everyday activities. Caitlin is certified by the American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT), and by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). She is also an individual with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Sensory Processing Disorder. Her personal insights into the experience of Autism led her to become an advocate for people on the Autism Spectrum.

Caitlin is on the staff of the Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where she practices the Alexander Technique. In her practice, Caitlin works with children, teens, and adults on the Autism Spectrum to help them develop better body awareness and self-confidence. She has recently begun teaching physical fitness to children and teens with Autism. Caitlin has been a featured presenter at the Autism Society of America and other Autism support organizations, where she has lectured on the Alexander Technique as a method of sensory integration for people with Autism. In 2015, she was invited to present her work at the 10th International Alexander Technique Congress in Limerick, Ireland.

Caitlin has been an Autism advocate since 2009. She has served as a consultant for school systems, offering an “Autism eye view” of classrooms and articulating the needs of students on the Autism Spectrum. She has been an advisor for teachers, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, and other professionals, helping them understand the behaviors of children and teens with Autism and Sensory Processing Disorder. In 2010, she helped to develop the Autism ID Card, which educates police and other first responders about the needs of people with Autism in an emergency. To date, the Autism ID Card has been distributed to over 7,000 people on the Autism Spectrum.

Caitlin received her B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College in 2002 in vocal performance and theatre arts, and graduated from the Alexander Technique School New England (ATSNE) in 2008. She received her certification as a personal trainer from NASM in 2016. Caitlin’s specialty is using her unique perspective as an individual on the Autism Spectrum to improve the lives of people with Autism and Sensory Processing Disorder.
