Jenna Loffredo

  • 1st Year Trainee - Audiology

Jenna Loffredo is a 3rd year student in the Doctorate of Audiology program at the University of Pittsburgh. She is a 2016 graduate from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and minors in Human Development and Family Studies, and Special Education. As the oldest of four siblings, Jenna has always had an interest in working with children and has spent time from a young age volunteering across various organizations through school, college, and graduate school.

Jenna has spent summers working as a camp counselor for children from preschool to third grade. She was an aide at a before and after school program at Penn State, and a nanny to various families around Pittsburgh. Jenna has always had a passion for advocating for children both at home and in the classroom. Her volunteer participation with Penn State’s Dance Marathon (THON) strengthened the desire to provide comfort and care for the entire family. THON has allowed Pennsylvania families to have no-cost medical care for children with cancer. Jenna worked with this organization to provide emotional and financial support to the entire family; making sure all of the family members have a smooth journey through cancer.

As a graduate student in audiology, Jenna continues to volunteer within the community. She is the founder of a reading program at the DePaul School for Speech and Hearing, the B.O.O.K.S. program. Building On Outstanding Kids Skills is a program that supports children in their read aloud skills. By reading to volunteers, students with hearing loss become more comfortable with their speech and fluency in conversation. Jenna is excited to be a LEND trainee for the 2018-2019 year and hopes to develop more skills towards advocacy for children and their families.
