Carolyn Darr

  • 1st Year Trainee - Physical Therapy

Carolyn Darr is a second-year student in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of Pittsburgh. She graduated from the University of Delaware in 2017 with a B.S. degree in Health Behavior Science and a minor in Health, Physical Activity, and Disability. During her time at the University of Delaware, she was a four-year athlete on the Track and Field team and two-year captain where she learned a lot about leadership and teamwork. Through the athletics program, Carolyn volunteered time to serve as a mentor to children at a local elementary school on a weekly basis. Through this experience and her involvement with her minor, Carolyn has developed a strong interest in working with individuals with disabilities across the lifespan.

At the University of Pittsburgh, Carolyn volunteers with the strength and conditioning program for the Mighty Penguins sled hockey athletes. Upon graduation, she would like to work in a rural outpatient setting where she is able to treat individuals of any age and background. Carolyn aspires to be a point of contact for families as they try to find and utilize available resources. She is very excited for the opportunity to be a part of the LEND training program and hopes to continue to improve her leadership and communication skills. In addition, Carolyn wants to develop a strong foundation in her ability to appropriately and effectively advocate for families, especially in the area of supports and resources. Most importantly, she wants to understand how to maximize her role as a physical therapist and LEND trainee to have a positive impact on individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their families.
