Gina Cancilla

  • LEND Physical Therapy Trainee

Gina Cancilla is a 2nd year Doctor of Physical student at the University of Pittsburgh. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2022 with a B.S. in Rehabilitation of Science and a certificate of Pathokinesiology in Rehabilitation. Gina worked as a teaching assistant for Psychology and Sociology of Disability where she noticed her spark for advocacy ignited. She had a unique internship experience with the physical therapy team at the Hope Therapy Center – an outpatient provider for therapeutic and academic services for a pediatric ASD population.

Gina has always been driven to help people achieve their greatest potential through functional independence, access to appropriate resources and support. LEND is an excellent opportunity to further develop her existing strengths in relationship building, communication, and responsibility. Gina is excited to work in interdisciplinary teams so that she can learn from her collaboration with the other trainees and family mentors. Her hope is to continue to foster her leadership and advocacy skills into her future practice so that all of her patients can feel truly cared for in ways that are specific to their personal goals, just as the LEND program teaches.
