Karley Baker

  • LEND Speech Language Pathology Trainee

Karley Baker is a second-year master's student in the Speech-Language Pathology program at the University of Pittsburgh. She graduated from Penn State University in 2022 with her bachelor's degree in the same field of study. Her passion for working with children with disabilities began in high school during her time as a Best Buddies member where she formed lifelong friendships and an appreciation for unique perspectives. She firmly believes that all individuals deserve to have their voice heard, and communication access should always remain at the forefront. Karley is also an aunt to a toddler on the autism spectrum which has allowed her to navigate the balance between advocating as a family member and a professional.

Throughout her time as a graduate student, Karley has been placed in several clinical settings working with a variety of clients and their families. This included an acute care hospital and outpatient rehabilitation facilities for pediatric and geriatric populations. She has also participated in the pediatric speech and language concentration as part of her graduate education. Karley is thrilled to be a 2023-2034 LEND trainee and hopes to further develop her leadership and advocacy skills for individuals and their families as she continues her professional career.
