Madeline (Maddie) DePascale is a 3rd year graduate student clinician in the Doctor of Audiology program at the University of Pittsburgh. She graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and minor in Psychology. While at Penn State, Maddie was a “big sister” in Centre County’s Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Through her role as a big sister, she was a friend and mentor for children with unique social and emotional needs, and thoroughly enjoyed the time she spent with her “little brother.”

From a young age, Maddie spent multiple summers working as a camp counselor for children with special needs and found her passion for working with children through this experience. Working at a children’s hospital has always been at the forefront of her career goals.

Currently, Maddie serves as the fundraising chair for the Student Academy of Audiology at the University of Pittsburgh. She also volunteers at the DePaul School for Speech and Hearing through the B.O.O.K.S. program, which supports read-aloud and literacy skills in children with hearing loss. Maddie is excited to be a 2020 – 2021 LEND trainee as she looks forward to learning about diagnosis and treatment of multiple disabilities and what role she can play on an interdisciplinary team to provide the best family-centered care.
