Victoria Kostour

  • LEND Public Health Trainee

Victoria is a second-year genetic counseling student at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health. She graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2022 with bachelor’s degrees in Molecular and Cell Biology as well as Psychological Sciences. At UConn, Victoria completed nutritional research investigating the impacts of organic elements to alleviate non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. She also worked as a peer mentor through the Honors Program to help students plan and achieve their undergraduate goals.

Victoria developed her love for working with children and their families though her work as a Kid’s Fitness Coach, Camp Invention Counselor, and science education outreach volunteer. She found a passion for advocacy initiatives and community resources while organizing efforts for war relief in Ukraine.

As a LEND trainee, Victoria looks forward to problem solving within a transdisciplinary team and gaining insight from families’ lived experiences. As a practicing genetic counselor, she hopes to adopt roles in student mentorship and genetic service accessibility. Victoria aims to apply the communication skills and policy knowledge developed from LEND to best serve clients with genetic conditions and neurodevelopmental disabilities.
